Description
In Hinduism, Durga is a principal form of the Goddess, created by the collective energy (shakti) of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and other gods to defeat the buffalo demon Mahishasura. She is born fully grown, fierce, and powerful, riding a lion with 8 or 10 arms, each holding a weapon gifted by various gods. The festival of Durga Puja, especially celebrated in northeastern India, honors her victory over Mahishasura. Durga is a symbol of feminine strength and power, and her worship is a significant aspect of Hindu tradition.
